October 17-22 - Bill Kim Clucker Collaboration!


We are joining forces with UrbanBelly and BellyQ Chef Bill Kim, to offer the Urbanbelly Mi sandwich ($11) Tuesday, October 17 through Sunday, October 22, 2017.

Chef Bill lends Asian influence to the collaboration creation, with elements and flavors reminiscent of a traditional bahn mi sandwich. The Urbanbelly Mi includes Fried Chicken Strips, Green Goddess, Belly Fire Sauce, and Pickled Green Papaya served on a steamed brioche bun. YUM.

For every UrbanBelly Mi sold, Honey Butter Fried Chicken will donate $1 to Chef Bill Kim’s charity of choice, Inspiration Kitchen, a local organization that trains low-income, homeless Chicagoans for careers in the foodservice industry.

The Urbanbelly Mi will be offered for dining in, pick-up, and delivery through Caviar, and is available while supplies last.

HBFC turns 4!



You guys! Honey Butter Fried Chicken is turning FOUR on Thursday, September 14th! Can you believe we are this big already? Fried Chicken Restaurant is growing up so fast.

Suffice to say, we are so grateful (and lucky!) that we are a healthy, sustainable business with wonderful customers in a supportive community. It’s hard to believe it’s been four years since we opened the corner door on Roscoe and Elston, but we couldn’t be more proud of our work and service to our customers, community, and employees. Much is on the horizon for HBFC - we are excited to continue to share our story with you. Onward to Year Five! 

The biggest thanks always goes to our hardworking, amazing, hilarious, and friendly staff. Our restaurant team is strong. HBFC would not be HBFC without the people that do the work to make the Fried Chicken and Honey Butter magic happen.

Step Up Shine & Dine: Thursday, August 11th

Join us and some of Chicago’s top chefs at Step Up’s 7th annual Shine & Dine on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 6:00-10:00 p.m. at Revel Fulton Market in Chicago. Nearly 700 guests attend Shine & Dine each August to sip and snack their way through tasting stations from Chicago's top eateries, while raising vital funds for Step Up's mentorship programs. Our chef and owner Christine is the chef chair of the event! We’ll be serving fried chicken nachos.

In an effort to give our hardworking staff a day off with their friends and family, HBFC will closed in observance of Independence Day. We will be open on Sunday July 3rd and Wednesday July 5th with regular hours. Celebrate fully and responsibly!

Craft & Cuisine at Wrigley Park - Saturday 5/13

Join us for a Saturday of tasty HBFC food at Craft and Cuisine May 13th at the Park at Wrigley. Attend one of two sessions on Saturday, 1-4 p.m. or 6-9 p.m. and enjoy more than 40 beer and wine tastings, live music, food bites from us and other kickass restaurants like Yusho, Cafe Tola, and Smoke Daddy, and chef demonstrations from super awesome chefs like Paul Kahan and Stephanie Izard. General Admission session tickets are available for $49 per session.

  • VIP session tickets are available for $79 per session providing 30 minute early entrance to event, premium bar, hors d'oeuvres and access to VIP terrace.

  • Designated Driver session tickets are available for $15 per session and include unlimited soda and water.

HBFC Pop Up in Detroit! Saturday April 22nd & Sunday April 23rd

HBFC hits the road this spring to bring our fried chicken and food to the great people of The D!


On Saturday 4/22 from 8am-3pm, we’ll pop up for breakfast and lunch at Russell Street Deli - thanks to our friends Ben Hall and Jason Murphy for hosting us! We’ll serving Honey Butter Fried Chicken Sandwiches, as well as add our Fried Chicken to a Russell Street Deli waffle for brunch. Seriously - only time our chicken has ever been served with waffle. A new frontier for our food. EXCITED!


On Sunday April 23rd, we’ll collaborate on a 5 course dinner at Grey Ghost with our pal John Vermiglio, who was a chef in Chicago for many years before opening Grey Ghost last year. Expect some Spanish influenced dishes - including fried chicken! To reserve seats for this awesome collab dinner:

Our chefs Christine Cikowski and Josh Kulp have been named the co-recipients of Family Farmed’s 2017 Good Food Chef of the Year Award!

Hooray! We are so honored. We’ve been told we are receiving this distinction because our “... local and sustainable sourcing, fair and inclusive treatment of their workers, and their social conscience(ness)…” We’ll take it! After the award ceremony, Christine and Josh will conduct a cooking demo that will kick of the festival’s Chefs at Play program on the main stage. Open to the public!
