HBFC’s Compensation Commitments

HBFC is a counter service restaurant focusing on in-house dining, carry out, catering, and delivery. We are a hospitality included restaurant and add no service charges. Everything - food, beverages, service, staff benefits, wages, costs of operating the business, etc. - is included the price of our menu items.

Our compensation model for wages and benefits for our team includes the following:

2023

  • All hourly employees start at $18 or $19 an hour.

2021

  • All employees will undergo an annual (manager and self) performance review.

  • All hourly staff are eligible for a wage increase twice per year.

  • Managers will undergo an annual (manager and self) performance review. Wage increases for managers will be based on performance review assessments.

SINCE 2020

  • Upon reopening from the pandemic shutdown, all hourly employees earn at least $17 per hour (position leads earn at least $18/hour).

SINCE 2016

  • All employees have access to up to 3 months of paid parental leave after 1 year of employment, up to 100% of their pay depending on tenure with the company.

  • HBFC is a “hospitality included” restaurant. “Hospitality Included” means we are a tip free restaurant. Our menu is priced to include the full cost of doing business, including labor. HBFC does not use the “tipped credit” and has never paid the sub-minimum wage to any of our employees.

since 2014

  • All employees working 30 or more hours per week have access to company-subsidized health, dental and vision insurance for themselves and their families/dependents/partners.
